Hi, I’m Tamra Baca!

At Baca Cello Studio, I teach cello both online and in person to students ages 7 through adult, from beginners to advanced players. With a strong background in classical music and extensive chamber music experience, I focus on building solid technique, ensemble playing, confident performance, and effective practice habits.

I’m passionate about sharing my love for music and guiding students to success. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing my students light up when everything clicks! I strive to create a nurturing environment in the Baca Cello Studio where every student can thrive.

I tailor each lesson to meet the unique needs and goals of my students, ensuring that they progress at their own pace while challenging themselves. Whether you’re learning for fun or aiming for a professional career, my goal is to help you grow as a musician, build lasting skills, and develop a deep appreciation for the cello.

A Passion for Cello, Backed by Experience

Tamra Baca Black & White String Quartet

With a Bachelor’s in Music from Utah State University and a Master’s in Music from the University of Utah, I’ve dedicated 19 years to teaching and even longer to performing. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of studying under renowned musicians and educators, which has greatly influenced my teaching style and deepened my love for music. I’ve completed Suzuki teacher training for all 10 books, as well as supplemental literature training, and hold a Suzuki Certificate of Achievement. This comprehensive training allows me to teach students of all levels at Baca Cello Studio with confidence, incorporating a variety of approaches tailored to each individual’s learning style and goals.

In addition to my formal education, my extensive performance experience in both solo and ensemble settings has helped me develop a deep understanding of the technical and musical demands of the cello. My goal is always to inspire students to build a strong foundation while nurturing their passion for music.

Beyond teaching, I perform regularly with Sky Island Quartet, Black & White String Quartet, and Chrome Street Quartet. Whether in the studio or on stage, I bring passion and experience to every note!

Building Strong, Confident, and Musical Cellists

My lessons offer a comprehensive and engaging approach to learning the cello. We focus on technique, music theory, note reading, ear training, and performance skills, all while developing musical expression and artistry. I also incorporate music history to provide context and broaden musical literacy, helping students connect more deeply with the pieces they play. Each lesson is designed to build a strong foundation while keeping learning fun, inspiring, and rewarding. At Baca Cello Studio, I strive to create an environment that fosters creativity and personal growth. My students not only improve their technical skills but also gain confidence in their ability to perform and communicate through music. I encourage an open dialogue in each lesson, allowing students to ask questions, explore different interpretations, and take ownership of their musical journey. Whether you’re preparing for a performance, developing new skills, or simply enjoying music, Baca Cello Studio is here to support and guide you every step of the way.
